Yes, it should work with any well written Wordpress theme. If you are having presentational issues due to the sidebar, it's super-easy to create your own template for the calendar pages and customize the look. See the next question for more info.
Please create a file called eventy.php and place it in your theme directory. Make sure the file contains the following code:
<?php echo $_eventy->display();?>
Put this code at the place where you want the calendar to appear. If you don't do this, the calendar won't appear at all.
Note also that if you are using a child theme, the file eventy.php should be placed in the parent theme directory.
Go to Appearance -> Menus in your Wordpress administration. On the top you'll see "Screen options" button. Click on it and check the checkbox saying "Event Calendars". Now the calendars will appear and you will be able to add them to your menus. If it's still unclear see the screenshots below:
